The story of this print.
BERNIE HAD IDEAS...
Thirty-nine years ago Nelson Piquet raced one of the most iconic cars in F1 history. The magnificent Brabham BT52 designed by the legendary Gordon Murray.

Its unique arrow-shaped design highlighted by the recessed positioning of the radiators further enhanced this unmistakable and extraordinary aerodynamic look. A race car that was born on March 13 at the Brazil GP in 1983, and won its first race with the Brazilian driver.

This design is a tribute to a peculiar situation. The BT52 started racing with a livery that Bernie Ecclestone, Brabham’s boss at the time, didn’t felt would enhance his sponsor PARMALAT.

So, in the middle of the season he had the graphics and chromatic layout changed, creating an almost YIN and YANG situation that I found fantastic to illustrate.

As a curiosity, Gordon Murray was so aware of the small size of the Brabham team that he designed the car in a way that it would be easy to remove the engine, gearbox or any other component.

A true designer at heart.
Another amazing and historic moment that deserved a print!
